They have decided to live their life on their own terms. Slum women in Koramangala have raised their voice in the form of a rally against the injustice they face from their male counterparts. This rally came out to mark respect to the womanhood on the occasion of International women’s day.
In an era of 21 century, the plight of a woman is no different; perhaps it is still the same especially for slum women who suffer physical and mental torture every day.“Women are often trapped in a situation where they face the worst form of physical and mental abuse,” said Sheela Ramanathan, Director of the Human Rights Law Network.
A women could fight the out side world, but then she fails to fight with her immediate family and succumbs to their love.“In most of the cases the perpetrators of such a violence are from the immediate family,” Ramanathan further added.
Today’s women, no matter whichever pocket of the society she belongs to, holds her self-respect as her pride. She is not scared and she knows to struggle in order to lead her life on her own terms. The message is loud and clear that she would respect and honour womanhood, come what may!
